A Beginner's Guide to Cycling Equipment

Cycling is one of the best ways to get around, it's not the fastest but it is the healthiest way to get around since you're exercising while also going faster than if you were walking or running. But most people not only use their bike as a means of transportation but also as a way to improve their overall health by riding their bikes on long distance trips. These trips are meant to help them improve their cardiovascular health and their fitness.

But to actually partake in such an activity you'll need some specialized gear that isn't mandatory but does help significantly when you go cycling on a mountain or on the road. The first of which is the bike itself, there are different types that depend on what terrain you'll be using it for namely bikes that are optimized for roads aren't as good on a mountain as a mountain bike. So knowing exactly what you're using the bike for is the first step to starting your cycling exercise program.

What you should decide on next is the clothing you'll be using during the cycling trips, you can use common clothing but this is definitely not advised since it will not only hinder you by soaking up all of the sweat while you're riding. But finding a good set of cycling clothes is easy enough since every cycle shop has at least a dozen different models of cyclist clothing. Most cyclist clothing has fabric which lets your skin breathe which helps evaporate any sweat that you produce during cycling.

Along with the clothing you should also look into some form of luggage for your bicycle, you could set up bags on the rear wheel of the bike. You could also simply use a normal backpack which you should use to store necessities, tools and spares. For tools and spares you should have an extra tyre inner tube to replace your current one if it punctures, and a tyre repair kit could also help in this case. Being able to repair your bike on the road is especially important since any problem could potentially cripple your entire trip.

Safety equipment also plays a key role during cycling since one crash could end in disaster if you're not sufficiently protected. A helmet and cycling clothing will protect you in the case of any crash and in the case of driving through rain and cold weather. And you can find all of this equipment through every cycle shop throughout Australia and in the online marketplace. You could also consult the shop's employees on what kind of equipment you should get just to be sure.
